“Better Than Ya Mama’s” — or BTYM — is a shortform cooking show featuring Chef D, former executive chef of the Washington Commanders, head chef for Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration, and private chef to the Smith family. In each episode, Chef D invites a celebrity guest into his kitchen to share their all-time favorite family recipe. As they swap stories and dive into the dish’s history, Chef D whips up his own remixed version — with the ultimate goal of blowing the original out of the water.
When we connected with Chef D and heard the early concept for Better Than Ya Mama’s, we immediately began shaping a vision to bring it to life. Over several weeks, we crafted a meticulously developed pilot — designing the show’s structure, defining its visual language, and charting a roadmap for a multi-episode series with the potential to expand across multiple seasons.
